The Mathematics of Emotion
EM-16 OS uses formal models — Bayesian updating, Markov state transitions, Shannon entropy on the 23-emotion vector, and graph centrality across the 529 pair space.
1. Emotional State Vector
‖E‖₁ = Σeᵢ = 1 (normalized)
Every moment, your emotional state is a probability distribution across 23 dimensions. The Kala is a projection onto a refined sub-manifold.
2. Bayesian Lens Update
P(Problem|Kala)·P(Kala) / P(Problem)
The solver computes posterior probability over Kalas given problem keywords using a tf-idf weighted likelihood with smoothed priors.
3. Shannon Emotional Entropy
Higher entropy = more confused state. The system targets a controlled-entropy state via the Kala application: ΔH < 0 indicates regulation success.
4. Markov Transition Matrix
Kalas act as transformation operators. Applying Dhairyata = matrix that pushes Fear → Peace mass with damping coefficient λ ≈ 0.62.
5. Pair Graph Centrality
C(v) = Σ 1/d(v,u)
Closeness centrality on the emotion graph. Peace(5) and Compassion(7) are the hubs — they connect to the most regulating Kalas.
6. Stress-Resilience Index
÷ (Fear + Anger + Sadness + ε)
Anti-fragile metric inspired by the Sharpe ratio. R > 1.5 = stable. R < 0.7 = intervention required. Updated live by the engine.
